I have skipped a bunch of activities this summer and went straight to our vacation pictures. I will try to get a post or two up to summarize the rest of the summer leading up to our vacation. This was our bi-annual trip with my sister and her family, my parents and my two aunts on my Dad's side. We share a house usually on a lake because the kids love to swim, fish and kayak. The weather was pretty nice. Although it rained almost everyday it did so at the most opportune times and didn't really interfrere with any of our planned activities. We squeezed in about 2 hours of swimming before lunch and then another 2 hours before dinner. Needless to say the kids didn't have too much trouble falling asleep at night. Drew was the big winner with the fishing pole as he caught two large bass and was very excited about it.
The water was about 10 feet deep off the end of the dock so the kids could jump in without any worries. There was a water slide which was a big hit. It doesn't show it in the pictures but the end of the slide was about 4 feet above the surface of the water which made for a lot of fun! There was also a floating dock that turned out to be a source of much fun. It sat right level with the water when no one was one it but easily started to sink if you stood towards one of the edges. The kids had a great time trying to tip each other off the raft.
I had brought some kayaks from home which the kids had a great time paddling around. I took one trip down the lake and up a small stream that was feeding the lake. I saw two bald eagles, one of which flew about 10 feet over my head, which was a little too close for comfort to be honest. Shannon and I mixed in a few walks and i went for a couple of bike rides to round out the week. We kept up to date on the Little League World Series as well which we always enjoy watching when we have time. Now on to the pictures...
