The second half of the summer moved a little slower than the first half, thankfully. With baseball over we had a little more time to relax and have fun which is what summer is for really. It has been a pretty hot summer, mid to high 90's almost every day. We started off the month by going to Carowids with the Bert's and Recktenwald's. It was great seeing Gary and Molly again. The kids all had fun with their friends too. Drew and Cole rode on a roller coaster. The picture that they snap shows Drew with a look of pure terror on his face, but he says he liked it. Cole wanted to go on the bigger roller coasters but he wasn't tall enough.
Drew went to spend a few days with aunt Sandy and Joan. He had a really good time playing wiffle ball and going to Lazy 5 ranch, an intimidators game and playing lots of games at home with them. He didn't call home the whole time which didn't suprise us that much. We are glad he is comfortable staying away from home every now and then. The rest of the family went up to spend the weekend with them and bring Drew home on Sunday. On Friday we gave Cole his first attempt at riding his bike without training wheels. With one push he was off and riding. By the end of the weekend he was riding all the way around the development, even up some pretty big hills. He just took off! We spent most of Saturday at Dan Nicholas park in Salisbury, which is always a good time. What a great park.
This month saw Cole start kindergarten, which he is pretty excited about. I think he has really been looking forward to "big school" since that is where big brother Drew goes. We are happy with his teacher assignment and he has one good friend from his daycare in his class so he is good to go! We were ready to have smores, daddy had the wood all ready in the firepit, and then we got a torrential downpour from a thunderstorm. No problem. Cole said, can we do them on the fire in the living room? So we made smores on the gas logs in the living room!
Drew started second grade this year. We were happy with his teacher assignment also. He was very happy when we went for open house and he saw the student list, he had three or four of his buddies in his class. He will have fun this year. He is a good student, so there isn't too much to worry about with him. He is like a veteran now, getting to show his little brother the ropes.
We ended the month on a down note as everyone except for Shannon got a stomach bug/fever/headache thing that lasted for about two days. Kinsey was first, then Cole, Drew and Daddy. It was tracking youngest to oldest pretty well until it got to the toughest nut to crack. Well that was our month, a relaxing fun month while we recharged and got ready for the fall: school, cub scouts, soccer, etc... I'll finish with a few funnies from the kids and a few pics from August as well.

"I like the red planes, the swings and the American-go-round" - Kinsey after our trip to Carowinds.
"Good job crew. Especially me." - Drew after finishing two floor puzzles in the kitchen.
"You're not laying down on the job, are ya?" - Cole repeating a line from Toy Story when Daddy was laying down working on the puzzles.
"That soap right there, on the hairbrush" - Kinsey, pointing out what soap she wanted to use to wash her hands at Sandy and Joan. It was on a bar soap holder that looked a little like, well, a hairbrush.
"Colie left his lunch bag on the hooker outside his classroom" - Kinsey reminding Daddy to pick up Cole's lunch bag that he had left at school the day before, on the "hook" outside his classroom.
"Daddy, why is the lightbulb in the kitchen out of fire" - Kinsey, wondering about the blown lightbulb in the kitchen.

Adorable, as always. It's hard to believe Cole is in kindergarten; I guess because Shannon was pregnant with him at my and Kenny's wedding. Keep the posts and pictures coming!
